My name is Ian Green and I am the Kindergarten teacher at Logan Tafe Community Child Care Centre. Before returning to study in my thirties I have worked in the shearing sheds in South West Queensland as a woolclasser as well as owning my own greengrocer business. I have been teaching for over eleven years now and adore working in Early Childhood Education. I believe that building a rapport with the children and their families is the key to engaging a great Kindergarten Programme. The key to all learning is through language. Through conversations with children and their families I can develop a clear understanding of children’s strengths and interests and plan exciting and fun learning experiences. The latter part of this last sentence is very important, for the fun element is where most of the learning occurs not only in Early Childhood Education, but throughout our whole lives. I also believe that a good Early Childhood Programme must be holistic. Teaching and learning doesn’t just occur during group times, it happens all day, every day.
