Our Kindergarten is a learning environment in which all children are given the opportunity to reach their individual potential for living a contributing and fulfilling life. The Kindergarten Programme builds on children’s interests, curiosity, and love of learning. It encourages autonomy and independence and supports each child’s voice (we all get a say here). Partnerships with families are valued and supported through: an open-door policy; regular communications about the child and programme via: face to face conversations; Storypark; Parent Information Evenings; Parent-Teachers Interviews and; other social events. Our Kindergarten Programme acknowledges that a person’s Early Childhood Years are essential in laying the foundation for later academic, social, and emotional success.
Kindergarten Curriculum
Our Kindergarten Programme follows The QLD Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG), which incorporates the Early Years Learning Framework. The QKLG acknowledges children as competent and capable learners, and, the significant role that adults play in optimising and enhancing children’s living and learning experiences. Adults and children share responsibility for the learning process through interaction, negotiation and, collaboration. We believe that children do not learn in isolation, it is a collaborative process. The QKLG conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning through five main learning and developmental areas: Identity; Connectedness; Wellbeing; Active Learning and; Communicating.
Programme Goals
- To respect, honour, and celebrate the uniqueness of each child;
- To develop in each child an active curiosity about the world, and, enthusiasm for learning based on their own needs, interests and, investigations;
- To enhance each child’s development of their social, emotional, language and, cognitive spheres;
- To provide experiences and opportunities for children to express themselves and represent their thinking and understanding through the many different languages;
- To work in partnership with the Parents and Carers, establishing connections and promoting continuity that recognises children’s past, present and, future living and learning experiences.
